How to make charcoal?

The process starts with the materials then through various steps, transforms them into high-quality charcoal.

Preparation of raw materials

Mangrove charcoal is produced from legally sourced wood. Mature trees are harvested, while small and young trees are preserved to maintain the forest’s development and ecological balance. The wood is cut into standard sizes, approximately 90-95 cm in length.

Carbonization process

Wood logs are arranged carefully inside the kiln. Typically, one kiln can hold around 20m3 of wood. The kiln will be controlled and burned for about 15 days. The duration depends on the type and quality of wood so it can be longer or shorter.

After completing the carbon transformation process, the kiln is sealed to remove air and create a carbonizing environment. Preventing air from entering the kiln is crucial, as it could lead to the charcoal turning into ash. This is the most critical stage in the charcoal-making process, determining its success or failure. Subsequently, the charcoal needs to cool itself for about 15 days.

Cutting and packaging

Once the charcoal has cooled, workers take it out of the kiln and cut it into the customer’s requirement sizes (approximately 10-12 cm). Then, the charcoal is carefully packaged and left to cool completely for 2-3 more days before being delivered to customers.
